The Neptune Warrior

Doing projects that improve Neptune Warrior is a norm for our community.

You see it with those who display project patches and stickers, special clothing items, or fun swag that comes from giving time to make us a premiere grassroots organization. Individuals have come together to do some really amazing things to help us be successful in improving the lives of our veterans.

There are two types of projects in Neptune Warrior. Organizational Driven and Member Inspired and Driven.

Organizational Driven is directed by organizational needs such as a new shed, a patio, dive platforms, and the firepit, are all examples of where as a team we saw a need and workdays we’re set up to complete.

Member Inspired and Driven are projects that individuals in our tribe see a need and with minimal guidance go get it done. Signs and plaques for the pool and fire pit area, the changing room and shower, raising funds for a new pool, Dive Master checklist, and portable dive site racks are just a few examples where someone saw a need and got it done. We really need more of these because I feel it helps members feel an ownership in what we do in Neptune Warrior. If your on a dive site or an event at the firepit/pool and you think, “This would be better if….”, we want you to give us your idea and then let you do it!

We have several projects of various size right now that just need volunteers to help with:

• New Pool Pad (Matt setting up multiple workdays for October/November-this is a priority project)
• New Pool installation and deck (John is leading this in the spring)
• Solar heated hot water panel (easy instructions included)
• Pool Cleaning and Testing (yes you can do dive to clean)
• Dive Shed Clear and Organize (Priority project)
• Tank drop off or pick up (weekly)
• Propane run (monthly)
• Dive Site Ambassadors
• Grant Writer
• Social Media and Web Development Ambassadors
• Landscape, SIT by the Pit, and general weekly help- Hey if you see an area that needs improvement, let’s just get it done.

Again, not an all-inclusive list..If you have ideas (the pool upgrade, the changing room, the shower, and the rinse tub were member generated ideas and execution) let us know.

From the begining, Neptune Warrior has prided itself of getting things done through the people that benefit from this organization. I want to keep this thing growing. I love that we have a place to meet that doesn’t close and we can hang out at after a dive, or a Friday, or hold classes. I love we have people who are enthusiastic about diving and share that with non-Neptune Warrior dives, I love how we have people who go out and find us funding. Most of all I love how we are a tribe and want the best for this organization and the people it helps.
