“We look into it at first, then wade, then swim, and for many submerge.
Each stroke, each fin kick has thought, has purpose.
Moving on the surface with no wake, finning to not disturb the aquatic life or sediment.
Using more legs than arms. Water encourages reverence.
H20, two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen, and a part no one mentions, mystery.”
Five years ago, I penned those few lines that encapsulated the essence of water – its mystery, its power, and the reverence it commands.
Today, I delve deeper into those words, exploring the profound connection we share with this elemental force.
The Initial Gaze- A Doorway to Discovery
Our journey with water begins with a curious gaze. We look into it, not just to see our reflection, but to understand what lies beneath. This initial curiosity is the spark that ignites a deeper exploration. It’s about peering into the unknown and embracing the mysteries it holds.
Wade, Swim, Submerge- The Gradual Immersion
As our fascination grows, so does our immersion. We start by wading – feeling the water around our ankles, acclimating to its temperature and texture. Then, we swim, our bodies fully enveloped, each stroke a blend of strength and grace. For some, the journey goes deeper, leading to submersion. Here, in the depths, we find tranquility and a sense of belonging.
Thoughtful Movement- Respect for the Aquatic Realm
Each motion in water is deliberate. Whether it’s the gentle fin kick that propels us forward or the careful maneuvering around aquatic life, our movements are mindful. This respect stems from an understanding of water’s delicate balance. We strive to move without leaving a wake, to interact without causing disturbance.
The Dance of Limbs- A Unique Symbiosis
In water, our usual reliance on arms is transformed. We engage more of our legs, finding a new rhythm and balance. This shift in movement reflects our adaptability and the unique relationship we share with water. It’s a dance of limbs, where human and element move in harmony. But in scuba it’s all about the legs. Never skip leg day!
Reverence for H2O-Beyond the Chemical Composition
Water is more than its chemical composition of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. There’s a mystical aspect, a part that eludes scientific explanation. This ‘mystery’ component is what draws us in, compelling us to explore and respect this vital resource.
Conclusion-Embracing the Mysteries of Water
As we conclude this exploration, it’s clear that water is not just a physical substance; it’s a source of inspiration, a pathway to mindfulness, and a realm of endless mysteries. Our interaction with water is a reflection of our journey through life – full of curiosity, respect, and continuous learning.
In the end, water teaches us about ourselves, about nature, and about the intricate connections that bind us all. It’s a journey worth taking, a mystery worth exploring.
